Purpose

Cambrian College (“the College”) is committed to providing students with access to information and resources to support students in finding housing. This policy aligns with the Ontario legislature Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024 (Bill 185).

Scope

This policy applies to applicants and students enrolled at Cambrian College.

Policy Statements

1. The College believes that student housing is an important part of the student experience. To support this, the College is committed to:

  1. Ensuring that housing information is easy to access. Students can find readily available information on the Student Residence and Off-Campus Housing webpages.
  2. Working to provide a suitable range of housing options in line with the College’s enrolment levels.
  3. Providing inclusive and accessible housing options that cater to our diverse student population.
  4. Considering the local community environment and developing community partnerships in support of student housing when appropriate.
  5. Providing student housing services through advisement, guidance, information, and support. Detailed information to access student housing services and resources are available through the Student Residence and Off-Campus Housing webpages.

2. Cambrian provides support to incoming students to assist them in finding housing on campus or in the community. Applicants receive information on student housing supports in their offer letter to assist them in finding housing.

Responsibilities and Accountability

Vice President, Human Resources, Student Services and International is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the implementation and compliance of this policy.
  • Ensuring the development, review and availability of this policy.
  • Ensuring student information, resources, and supports are in place for student housing.

Vice President, Finance and Administration and Applied Research is responsible for:

  • Overseeing student housing in residence.

Manager, Public Safety and Residence Operations is responsible for:

  • Reporting on student housing in residence as per ministry requirements.

Campus Living is responsible for:

  • Adhering to the requirements of this policy.
