For more than 60 years, Cambrian College has been a cornerstone of education, innovation, and community in Northern Ontario. From our beginnings as a small regional institution, we have grown into a leading global college, recognized for academic excellence, strong industry partnerships, and commitment to student success. Our evolution reflects a legacy of adaptability, resilience and ambition — qualities that continue to define us today and that will shape our future.

This plan is a forward-looking response rooted in both optimism and realism. Our first priority is to deliver education that fosters creativity, resilience, and personal growth. We aim to empower our learners not only to launch their careers, but to lead and thrive across a lifetime of opportunity and transformation.

Strategic Plan Progress Reports

Our Strategic Plan was launched in June 2025, in the midst of, and what continues to be, a challenging time for the college sector. While some institutions chose to delay development of plans, at Cambrian, we welcomed this moment. Learn more about the progress we’re making by viewing our progress reports.

Goals

In everything we do, we adhere to our guiding principles of Academic Excellence, Indigenous Values, Sustainability, Global Perspective, and Innovation.

Outlined in our dashboard is the progress we have made toward our short- and longer-term targets under the objectives of Learner, Team and Community.

As we look to the future, the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan honours our history while embracing the opportunities ahead. It is a call to action — to lead with courage, work with purpose, and ensure Cambrian continues to be a place where people come to learn, to grow, and to change the world.

Adapt, Reimagine, and Lead

At Cambrian, we welcome this moment. We see opportunity in adversity, and we remain focused on what matters most: delivering an education that prepares learners to thrive, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable world, and building partnerships that make an impact — locally, nationally, and globally. This plan is the product of collaboration. It reflects the voices of our students, team, alumni, partners, and communities. Together, we have defined a clear path forward — one that embraces our values of academic excellence, global perspective, Indigenous values, innovation, and sustainability.

Guiding Principles

In everything we do, we will lean into our unique character and resilience as a college in the north foregrounding:

  • Academic Excellence

    We support, enhance and celebrate teaching and learning.

  • Global Perspective

    We will create meaningful opportunities to welcome the world to Cambrian and bring Cambrian to the world, preparing students for leadership in an interconnected world.

  • Indigenous Values

    We will integrate traditional knowledge, cultural practices, and respectful stewardship of the land into our curriculum, programs, and policies and deepen cultural safety, supports and connections that enable Indigenous people to thrive at Cambrian.

  • Innovation

    We continually seek creative ways of meeting the needs of our students and be an incubator for novel solutions that address the social and economic challenges of industries and communities.

  • Sustainability

    We will make strategic choices that support the sustainability of our College, our community and the environment.
