Jennifer Taback has been appointed chair for the 2024-2025 term. She will also continue as chair for Cambrian’s Circle for Indigenous Education.

SUDBURY – Cambrian College’s board of governors has a new chair, a new executive, and new members.

Jennifer Taback has been appointed chair for the 2024-2025 term. She will also continue as chair for Cambrian’s Circle for Indigenous Education.

Jennifer Taback (Miikawaadizi Waaskonee Giizis Kwe) is a member of the Shawanaga First Nation and lives in Greater Sudbury. Jennifer has worked in the design industry for more than 15 years, with experience ranging from research and assessments to implementation and support for both the private and public sectors. She is the co-founder of Design de Plume, an Indigenous and women-owned, award-winning creative agency that launched in 2009.

Through her work, Jennifer has educated clients and the public on issues of significance to Indigenous peoples’ health and well-being and has supported national communication strategies to advance the process of truth and reconciliation.

“I am looking forward to my role as chair of the Cambrian College board, especially during this time as we look to develop our new Strategic Plan,” says Taback. “The past plan was excellent and laid the foundational groundwork for us to set our sights on more aspirational accomplishments.”

New to Cambrian’s board of governors this year are Shannon Restoule, Mark Hartman, Gurpreet Broca, and student governor Victor Ogochukwu.

There is also a new executive this year: Gianni Grossi (vice-chair), Sophia Moutsatsos (chair, governance committee), Claire Parkinson (chair, audit committee), and Philip Potgieter (past chair).

“It is a pleasure to welcome our new executive and members to the board,” adds Taback. “We have four new members in total, which will bring unique experiences and perspectives that help to shape important discussions.”

Returning members of the board include Cambrian President Kristine Morrissey, Michael DiBrina, Lori Gauthier, Maxim Jean-Louis, Trevor Lalonde, Kelly Niemela, and Jim Phillips.

The role of the board is to provide Cambrian College with strategic leadership and direction, including determining Cambrian’s overall goals and objectives, approving and evaluating the college’s Strategic Plan, and approving its annual budget.
