Cambrian College Prepares for Spring Term

Apr 29, 2024

SUDBURY – It may be spring, but for some college students, it is the start of their academic journey.

Classes in the spring term begin May 6 at Cambrian College.

To help students prepare, the college’s spring orientation gets underway this week.

“The demand for quality college education doesn’t follow the traditional calendar anymore,” explains Janice Clarke, Cambrian’s vice-president academic. “We now have programs starting in every season. It’s what students want, and it has really transformed Cambrian into a year-round college.”

 Spring orientation events include:

  • International in-person orientation, May 1. Cambrian staff will help new international students become familiar with the campus. Several community partners, agencies and organizations will also be in attendance to help new international students settle into the community.
  • Social Insurance Number clinic, May 2. Service Canada will be on campus processing social insurance numbers for international students.
  • Community Service Fair, May 2. New students will be able to connect with key service providers in the community and on campus, such as banking, public transit, and government and public-school services.
  • Ask Me Desk, online and in-person, May 6-10. The Ask Me Desk in the main entrance and online will help students navigate their way on campus, and through the range of college student services.
  • Meet and Greet Carnival, May 6. The Student Life Centre will host a dance-style party, with free food, snacks, games, entertainers and swag.
  • Student Services Fair, May 9. The gym foyer will be the location for a number of information booths about services available to students, plus swag, popcorn, games and prizes.

New students are encouraged to sign up for virtual orientation for the chance to win a $1,000 cash prize. Enrol and review the Virtual Orientation session before the end of day on Friday, May 10, 2024, to be entered into the draw.
