Cambrian College Prepares for Fall Term

Aug 26, 2024

SUDBURY – It may be late summer, but at Cambrian College, fall is in the air.

Cambrian is preparing for the launch of the fall semester, the traditional launch of the academic year.
It all starts with Orientation, August 28 to September 6, with numerous events to both help new and returning students prepare for the start of classes and campus life.

“Fall Orientation is always such an exciting time because there is so much energy and enthusiasm on campus,” explains President Kristine Morrissey. “It is such a thrill to greet our students, particularly our new students and their families, when they arrive for move-in weekend in student residence. Before we start up the labs and classrooms, we put a lot of effort into making sure all our students feel welcomed and comfortable on campus.”

Orientation Week activities include:

  • Cambrian International In-person Orientation, August 28, in the gym. Meet the team at Cambrian International, learn about how our team supports international students during the transition to Canada and at Cambrian College, and chat with community partners to make connections and learn about our community supports
  •  Social Insurance Number Clinic, August 29, in room 2241. Representatives from Service Canada will process social insurance numbers for international students.
  • Community Service Fair, August 29, in the Student Life Centre. New students will connect with key service providers in the community and on campus, such as banking, public transit, and government and school services.
  • Ask Me Desk, September 3-6, in the main entrance and online. Students will receive the help they need to navigate their way on campus and through the range of student services. The Virtual Ask Me Desk is available on the college’s website.
  • Meet and Greet Carnival, September 4, across campus. There will music, free food and snacks, free swag and games. The Meet and Greet Carnival is sponsored by the department of Marketing, Recruitment and Student Success and Cambrian Student Council. Students attending the Meet and Greet will also have the chance to win a $2,500 scholarship.
  • Student Services Fair, September 5, in the gym foyer. There will be information booths about services available to students on campus, as well as swag, popcorn, games and prizes.
