Overview

The First Step Centre puts you on the right path — wherever you begin.

Cambrian’s First Step Centre supports students and families at all stages of their education, from elementary and high school to postsecondary and adult learners. The First Step Centre focuses on three pillars that spotlight the value of learning: outreach, access and transition, and retention. Their services include academic, personal, and financial advising, workshops, and more, helping you get the most from your education.

Our services could be especially helpful for people who have experienced barriers to accessing education. We are here to help you navigate your journey to Cambrian.

For example, youth in care and former Foster Kids are invited to campus in collaboration with their providers for events such as Possibilities Day to explore career opportunities, bursaries, and receive application support. We also have specific bursaries to support Adult Learners First Generation, Indigenous and Crown Ward students, and students with Disabilities.

Cambrian offers extensive financial support for all students by awarding approximately $2,000,000 in scholarships and bursaries annually, some of which are exclusively for students who identify as Indigenous, First Generation and Crown Wards.
