Sudbury, ON – Cambrian College is honouring a long-time education and training partner of its Electrical Engineering programs.

Today, Cambrian announced it is renaming its primary Electrical Engineering lab as the Eaton Electrical Lab, in recognition of Eaton, an intelligent power management company. Equipped with Eaton products, the state-of-the-art lab serves as a hub for innovative research, development and training.

Eaton has also made a financial contribution to the construction of Cambrian’s new electric vehicle (EV) research lab, housed within the Glencore Centre for Innovation at the college’s main campus. The EV lab is part of Cambrian R&D, the applied research division of Cambrian College.

“With the energy transition underway, it’s an extraordinarily exciting time to be an engineer and the industry needs more highly trained professionals,” says Harold Ruckpaul, Director, Distributed Energy Resources at Eaton. “We’re proud to work with Cambrian College and honoured to have the engineering lab named in recognition of our partnership. Hands-on and experiential learning are vital to provide students with the training and skills needed for long, successful and rewarding careers in the energy industry.”

For years, Eaton has been a major supporter of Cambrian’s Electrical Engineering programs, donating electrical equipment that has been instrumental in providing students with hands-on learning experiences.

“The naming of the Eaton Electrical Lab demonstrates our shared goal and dedication to advancing education and igniting innovation,” says Janice Clarke, Cambrian College’s Vice-President, Academic. “This partnership will equip both industry and students with the essential tools and resources vital to the advancement of electrical engineering and sustainable technology. We are very grateful for the generous support we have received from Eaton over the years.”
