Overview

Cambrian College’s Test Centre provides the ideal proctored testing services

If you’re a Cambrian student completing a rescheduled test or a member of our community who needs an invigilated environment, our Test Centre offers the optimal place to meet your assessment needs. There’s ample room for 32 paper-based tests and 14 computer-based tests. We’re also a Ministry-approved site for apprenticeship exemption exams.

Current students

If you are a current student at Cambrian College, you may write your test in the Test Centre only if you meet one of the following requirements:

  1. You are a student with accommodations registered with the Glenn Crombie Centre
  2. You missed a test due to illness, an emergency, or other extenuating circumstances
  3. You will not be able to write a test with the rest of the class due to extenuating circumstances

If you meet one of these requirements, you will need to discuss your situation with your professor.

    Students with an accommodation

    Testing Accommodations: What are they?
Testing accommodations are for people with disabilities or accessibility issues. They are obtained by registering with our Glenn Crombie Centre for Accessibility and Wellness. If you believe you may be eligible for testing accommodations, please contact the Glenn Crombie Centre at accessibilityservices@cambriancollege.ca, or visit their website for more information.

    How to Schedule a Test
Your instructor will upload your upcoming test dates into a scheduling software called “Clockwork”. You will then use Clockwork to book your tests with us. By booking with us, you will be able to write outside of the classroom in a proctored setting, with your approved accommodations. If you do not see an upcoming test in Clockwork, inform your instructor or contact us at the Test Centre. Please see your advisor to learn how to book tests through Clockwork.

If you are an accommodated student, please use the Clockwork program to book your tests. You can find the link to this booking software on your MyCambrian page. Make sure to book your tests no later than three business days prior to the test. Speak with your GCC advisor to learn the process of using Clockwork to book your tests. If you do not see a test in Clockwork, please email us at testcentre@cambriancollege.ca so that we can get in touch with your professor to set the test up.

Once you book through Clockwork, you will receive an email from us that confirms the booking and provides you with the location that you will be writing your test at (we have two testing locations: room 3522, and room 2535A).

    Students without an accommodation

If you are a student without accommodations, but you can’t write your test at the regular time due to extenuating circumstances, please let your professor know that they will need to submit a Test Referral Form to the Test Centre. We will then email you to arrange a date to write the test.

    Testing invigilation rules

    Academic integrity/invigilation:

    Faculty

The Test Centre provides testing services for students with accommodations (registered with the Glenn Crombie Centre), as well as for students who have received approval from their faculty to write their test outside of regular class time (due to illness, emergency, or other exceptional circumstances).

Please use the Clockwork portal to add all your upcoming tests so that students with accommodations can book their tests with us. You must add them at least five business days before the test. You can add the time slots before uploading the actual test, so it is best to do this as early as possible in the semester so that students can book ahead of time. You can edit the test information later if needed.

Here is a link to a helpful tutorial created to help faculty use Clockwork!

If a student (with or without accommodations) misses a test due to extenuating circumstances (illness, emergency, time conflict), you must email a Test Referral Form to testcentre@cambriancollege.ca .

Please provide your contact information on the form so that we can reach you if there are any issues during the test. If you will not be available for contact at your office phone number or work email, we would strongly advise providing an alternate email or telephone number where you can be reached during the test time.

Attach a digital copy of the test to the email, or if it is on Moodle, please provide the password. Put a specific time and date that you want the student to write the test. During periods of high-volume testing, we may not be able to schedule at the exact time or date that you request.

You can come to the Test Centre between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, to pick up completed tests, or you can ask that we email and scan them back to you.

    External test-takers

    External institutions

We offer proctoring services for any outside institution that has approved our Test Centre as an eligible testing site. We will follow your guidelines and procedures when supervising tests on behalf of your institution.

We have room for 32 paper-based tests and 14 computer-based tests. The Test Centre is a quiet environment with ample space. We have security cameras to record and monitor test takers. Our invigilators are highly experienced and knowledgeable about proctoring processes. We have software for accommodations such as Read & Write, Kurzweil, and Dragon.

We charge an invigilation fee of $75 + HST per candidate per four-hour exam; and $20 + HST per additional hour. The test-taker is responsible for this cost unless your institution covers external proctoring fees.

We welcome any affiliation with outside institutions and we are willing to work with you to make sure we meet the requirements and standards necessary to become an official external testing site for your institution. Please contact us for more information.

    External students

A proctor is a person who monitors students during a test. Some institutions require that their tests be supervised. If you are a student who is attending another post-secondary institution, or if you are a community member who needs to take a test for work-related purposes, we’re able to provide proctoring services in our secure and well-supervised environment.
