Transfer credits

Need to transfer existing credits? It’s easy at Cambrian!

Transfer credits are granted for courses completed at another recognized post-secondary institution that are deemed equivalent to a course at Cambrian. Transfer credits allow you to apply the credits you’ve already earned toward your current program, reducing the number of courses you need to take and expediting your program completion.

Here are some further details:

  • You will need to provide your official transcript and course outlines to have any transfer credits assessed
  • A minimum grade of “C” (60 percent) is required for a course to be considered for transfer credits for most programs
  • Courses will be evaluated on criteria such as content, learning outcomes, credit value, and number of teaching hours
  • Courses must be completed at a public post-secondary institution in Canada or an accredited international institution to be eligible for transfer credit assessment
  • For more information, please review the Transfer Credit and Advanced Standing Policy and the Transfer Credit and Advanced Standing Operating Procedure

Please Note

You must have an A# and have registered in a program in order to qualify for a transfer credit.

International students

If you are an internationally educated student, you are required to submit a WES-assessed transcript and course outlines in English.

If you are applying for transfer credit for credit(s) obtained outside of Canada, your international transcript must be World Education Services (WES) assessed. Please note that WES assessment of a transcript could take 6 weeks or more. For more information about WES, visit: International Credential Evaluation Services | NACES Member – WES. In addition to submitting a WES-assessed transcript, the course outline(s) for the Transfer Credit Application must be submitted in English.

Cambrian students seeking internal transfer credits

If you are a current Cambrian student seeking a transfer credit for a course that you have already completed at Cambrian College, you should check your “Degree Evaluation” which will inform you if your previously completed course is already being pulled into your courses required for graduation.

If you do not see your past completed course in your Degree Evaluation, please apply for transfer credit.
