Cambrian College welcomes students for a new academic year – September 3

SUDBURY, ON – New friendships, experiences, and opportunities await as Cambrian College prepares to welcome thousands of new and returning students to campus.

The fall semester begins next week with orientation activities. Students will have the opportunity to meet classmates and faculty, explore campus, discover student services, and build the confidence needed to start the academic year on the right foot.

“The beginning of a new academic year is one of the most exciting times at Cambrian College,” says Kristine Morrissey, President of Cambrian College. “Every September, we welcome students from across Canada and around the world who are taking an important step toward their future. Orientation is where those journeys begin, and we’re committed to ensuring every student feels welcomed, supported, and ready to succeed from their very first day. Fall Orientation is the first step in creating a memorable Cambrian experience, one built on connection, discovery, and the confidence to embrace everything college life has to offer.”  

Orientation Week includes numerous activities to help students adjust to campus life, including:

• International In-Person Orientation: international students receive practical information about studying and living in Canada, meet members of Cambrian’s International team, connect with fellow students, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and take part in trivia games with prizes.
• Academic Orientation: students will meet their faculty members and classmates, receive important program information, tour learning spaces, and become familiar with the academic resources and student supports available to help them succeed throughout the semester.
• Ask Me Desk: staff and student ambassadors will be stationed throughout campus during the first week of classes to answer questions, provide directions, and help students navigate campus while connecting them with on-campus support services.
• Meet and Greet Carnival: one of Orientation Week’s signature events, the carnival includes free food, games, entertainment, student clubs, campus services, community partners, prizes, and plenty of Cambrian swag.
• Social Insurance Number (SIN) Clinic: Service Canada will again host an on-campus clinic where eligible international students can obtain a social insurance number, an important first step for those planning to work while studying in Canada.

“Orientation is about helping students feel connected before classes even begin,” adds Renée Scott, Director, Marketing, Recruitment and Student Success at Cambrian College. “From meeting classmates and faculty to discovering campus resources, clubs, and support services, these first few days help students build confidence, make new friends, and find their place within the Cambrian community. We want every student to know they’re part of something special from the moment they arrive.”
