SUDBURY, ON – A lot of creativity was on display at Cambrian College this week.

The college held its third annual Creative Industries Expo, a year-end showcase of the work of students in Animation, Design and Visual Arts, Game Design, Graphic Design, and Media Communications.

The Expo also featured artwork created by kindergarten students at Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School in Sudbury, under the guidance of students in the Design and Visual Arts program.

“The Creative Industries Expo is not just a celebration of hard work and creative minds, but also an opportunity for our graduating students to connect with industry and take that first step from academics to career,” says Pamela Teed, Chair of the School of Creative Industries. “It’s an important night for our students, and we’re sincerely grateful for all those who supported the event.”

The Creative Arts Expo also included the sale of original student creations, plus program-specific awards of excellence.

One of the students featured at this year’s expo was Scarlet Nguyen of Vietnam, who is graduating from the Graphic Design program. She was the recipient of a bursary from the Sudbury Design Society. Nguyen pursued graphic design after also studying animation.

“I needed something that is a blend of the technical and artistic, and for me, design is right between those two elements,” explains Nguyen. I’m glad I chose Cambrian College for my education and really appreciate all the faculty and staff who helped me a lot. I absolutely want to be a graphic designer in Sudbury. I love this city and want to work here.”
