Cambrian College Massage Therapy students get customized anatomy lesson at University of Guelph – July 31

Students in Cambrian College’s Massage Therapy program recently attended a learning session at the University of Guelph focusing on parts of the human anatomy most dealt with by massage therapy students.
SUDBURY – Earlier this month, some students in Cambrian College’s Massage Therapy program travelled to the University of Guelph for an intensive, customized session on the human anatomy.
The learning experience focused on parts of the anatomy students deal with the most.
The sessions were hosted by Human Anatomy Senior Technician and Program Administrator Nina Andrejic, along with a team from the Human Kinetics and Bio-Medical Sciences programs at Guelph. Students worked with anatomy from body donors, including muscles, bones, and major areas such as the thorax, abdomen, and even the brain and spinal cord.
“This experience reinforced and deepened the understanding of our students by allowing them to see the structures they work on and learn about in our program at Cambrian College in a new and impactful way,” says Heather Wiebe, a faculty member in Cambrian’s Massage Therapy program. “What they learned at this program will benefit their future Massage Therapy clients.”
One of the students taking part in the session was Gabriel Haley, who is graduating from the program this summer.
“This was an amazing experience. There is always more to learn in this profession. Opportunities like this really will have a lasting effect when I’m out practicing as a registered massage therapist after graduation.”
The trip to the University of Guelph was made possible through fundraising by the students and a donation from Cambrian’s Development Office.
