Cambrian College professor earns national Power Engineering Award

Greg Rickard, a professor in Cambrian College’s Power Engineering program, is the recipient of the 2024 Pan Global Training Systems Education Contribution Award of Excellence. He received his award this month from the National Institute of Power Engineers (IPE).
SUDBURY – One of Cambrian’s longest-serving professors has received a national award for his contributions to the field power engineering.
Greg Rickard is a recipient of the 2024 Pan Global Training Systems Education Contribution Award of Excellence. He received his award this month from the National Institute of Power Engineers (IPE).
“I’d like to thank PanGlobal and the IPE for this award,” said Rickard. “I would also like to thank the entire Power Engineering team for being so supportive and helpful throughout my time at Cambrian.
Rickard has taught in Cambrian’s Power Engineering program for 23 years. He is being recognized for his excellence in teaching and contributing to the development of teaching materials in Power Engineering.
“Greg has been an outstanding leader and exemplifies academic excellence and commitment in his work with students,” says Cambrian’s Vice-President Academic, Janice Clarke. “He brings energy and enthusiasm to Power Engineering and his work has truly made a positive difference in the lives of our students. This is a very well-deserved award.”
Power Engineering focuses on the creation, transmission, distribution of utilization of electrical power.
Program graduates work in a variety of settings, such as power plants, large industrial facilities, public utilities, and larger public buildings such as hospitals, schools and arenas.
Cambrian offers a three-year Power Engineering Technology program, a two-year Power Engineering Technician program, and a one-year Power Engineering techniques program.
Currently, Cambrian offers Ontario’s only TSSA 2nd class accredited Power Engineering program.
