Sudbury – Once you graduate, you are not obliged to keep doing homework. But that wasn’t the case for some recent, enthusiastic graduates of Cambrian College’s Mobile Application Development program.
As part of their major (capstone) assignment in their final semester of the program, they designed an app catering to college alumni.
After they graduated, they formed their own company, The Alpha Nova (TAN) and brought the app into production.
The new app is called Cambrian Alumni and is available through Google Play and the App Store. Graduates receive push notifications about exclusive offers and discounts tailored specifically for them and can easily redeem these by showing their Digital Alumni Card to participating merchants. The app also grants access to a wide array of benefits and resources, helping users stay connected, find meaningful employment and continually develop their skills.
“Collaborating on the Cambrian Alumni app has been an extraordinary journey for our team, allowing us to bring our skills to life through a meaningful, real-world project. We’re thrilled about the positive impact this app will have on the alumni community,” says Shubham Dhamane, co-founder of The Alpha Nova. “I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our professors for securing this opportunity and to my incredible teammates for their dedication in bringing this project to life.”
The Alpha Nova develops innovative and creative products and services that provide comprehensive communication and information solutions. Their offerings include web design and development, tailor-made applications, ERPs, CRMs, e-commerce solutions, business-to-business and business-to-client applications, managed hosting, and internet portal management.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and this remarkable achievement,” says Brandi Braithwaite, Director, Alumni and Development. “The successful launch of the Cambrian Alumni app is a testament to the quality of education and real-world experience provided at Cambrian College. Our students have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, and we are excited to see their continued success.”
