SUDBURY – Art worthy of a salute. The flagpole court at the front entrance to Cambrian College is a lot more colourful, thanks to a new mural created by Design and Visual Arts professor Johanna Westby.
Westby’s latest mural is a symbolic expression of the journey of the academic experience at Cambrian College, with each of the eight panels symbolizing various steps students will take along their path of discovery. The sunrise represents new beginnings, the moose represents determination and the Canada geese represent change and support.
Over the years, Westby and her students have created numerous murals for public spaces such as Tom Davies Square (city hall), Health Sciences North, Science North and various schools.
