SUDBURY – It’s a global meeting of the tech-mind: DevFest is coming to Cambrian College on November 25.
DevFest is an all-day event organized by Google Developer Groups (GDG) around the world. The goal of this world-wide event is to foster learning, collaboration and growth among the local tech community.
Google Developer Groups (GDGs) are community-led developer groups that aim to create a space where developers can come together to learn about technologies and share experiences. It is also an opportunity to network with peers and learn from local industry experts.
The GDG Sudbury chapter is hosting the local DevFest in the Cambrian College eDome, from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The event is free.
“Everyone here at Cambrian is exited for DevFest, and our students and graduates are the real stars, volunteering their time and effort to make this such a great community group that puts on so many amazing events,” says Nathan Abourbih, program coordinator and professor of Business and Information Technology at Cambrian, and Cambrian faculty lead for GDG Sudbury. “DevFest is going to be an amazing opportunity for anyone interested in a career in technology.”
Sessions at this year’s DevFest include:
- Landing a Job in IT.
- Use of AI features in Google Maps and other Google products.
- Cloud Technologies for Big Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
- How are People Building AI Apps?
- Generative AI

“Cambrian College has been a cornerstone of support for GDG Sudbury by providing the perfect platform for our ambitious ideas to flourish,” says
Hannan Ahmad Shaikh, a student in Cambrian’s Business Analytics program, and an organizer of DevFest Sudbury. “The collaborative energy among students and professors is truly palpable, creating an environment that makes it possible for GDG Sudbury to host events like DevFest 2023.”
