Cambrian College Announces Nominees for Colleges Ontario Premier’s Awards

SUDBURY – It's that time of year again where the best and brightest graduates of Ontario's public colleges are recognized for outstanding contributions to society at the Colleges Ontario annual Premier's Awards.

“We're honoured to put forward Tafari Anthony, Keith Lindsay and Nicolas Smit as this year's nominees to represent Cambrian,” says Brandi Brathwaite, Cambrian's Director of Development and Alumni. “All three of these nominees are trailblazers and truly represent the best of the Cambrian community.”

Meet the 2022 nominees:

Tafari Anthony
Tafari Anthony (Graphic Design, 2010) – Creative Arts & Design Tafari Anthony blends pop, soul and alternative music into sleek vocal tones and sultry melodies. His latest EP, “The Way You See Me, was nominated for a 2022 JUNO Award for Adult Contemporary Album of The Year.

Tafari understands the costs associated with being a performer and recording artist. He offers his creative and graphic design services to fellow artists to market their music in this evolving digital age.

Keith Lindsay
Keith Lindsay (Child and Youth Care, 1989) – Community Services For more than 30 years, Keith Lindsay has been shaping the mental health and rehabilitation fields. As the Director of Rehabilitation Services for Bartimaeus Rehabilitation Services Inc., he leads a staff of more than 40 professionals across Ontario. Keith is also a sought-out keynote speaker, having been invited to almost every college in Ontario.

Nicolas Smit
Nicolas Smit (Mining Engineering Technology, 2015) – Health SciencesNicolas is the Executive Director of the American Mask Manufacturers Association. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a key role in securing millions of N95 masks for health care workers around the world.

A trusted expert during the global outbreak – Nicholas Smit now finds himself consulting with lead players at the Centers for Disease Control and  at the highest echelons of the US government.

“These are three strong nominees and they each represent a very different and diverse post-Cambrian journey,” says Bill Best, President of Cambrian College. “Tafari, Keith and Nicholas have accomplished some amazing things and are making the world a better place in their own way. They embody everything we aspire to here at Cambrian.”

The Premier's Awards recognize outstanding contributions to society from graduates of Ontario's public colleges. The gala ceremony awards will be held on November 28 in Toronto.
