Cambrian College is excited to host in-person convocation ceremonies the week of June 8, 2026, for Barry Downe campus graduates.
Your convocation will be live-streamed for your guests who are unable to attend, and will also be available after the ceremony.
Convocation ceremony locations
The Cambrian convocation ceremonies are located at the Barry Downe campus in Sudbury, Ontario. Here are some further details about locations:
- The ceremonies are held in the gymnasium, room 2430
- Graduate check-in and gowning is located in the Student Life Centre, room 2302
- If you are late for the ceremony, please visit the Career Centre boardroom, room 2415
- If you are receiving an award and your photo is being taken, please visit room 1408 after your ceremony has concluded
- Return your gown to the Enrolment Centre, room 2037
- If you require first-aid, please go to the Women’s Resource Centre, room 2431
- For a quiet space that is also family-friendly, visit the Glenn Crombie Centre boardroom, room 2537
Graduate RSVP and gown rental
If you are eligible to graduate or have completed your program in the fall, you are required to reserve your gown, which serves as your RSVP to the ceremony for your program.
We sent a Save-The-Date email to eligible graduates on February 13, 2026. Once the ceremony schedule is finalized, we will send the official invitation emails.
Gowns will be available for pick up one hour before the start of your ceremony. Your gown must be returned to the Enrolment Centre after your ceremony. Please note that unreturned gowns are subject to a $150 replacement fee, and unreturned stoles and hoods are subject to a $75 replacement fee.

Photos and photography
Cambrian Student Council has arranged for Edge Imaging to be on campus to offer grad photos on various dates, as early as March 2026. To book your graduation photo session, go to bookmygrad.ca, have your student ID and school code “CLK” ready.
A professional photographer will be taking pictures throughout your ceremony. You can download the photos for free at ginodonatophotography.ca within a few days of your ceremony.
Edge Imaging photographers will be available to take graduation portraits on campus following each ceremony in the KPMG Pride Centre (accessible from the Cafeteria). No appointment needed – visit them at the camera anytime between 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. to have your graduation portrait taken. Family and friends are welcome to join!
Sitting options:
- 6 poses for $30
- 10 poses for $40
Cash or card accepted at the camera.
Proofs will be emailed to you approximately 2 weeks after your photos are taken.

Let’s celebrate graduates! Post a picture or share a message for a graduate(s) using #CambrianGrad2026 on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or TikTok between June 8 and 10, 2026 for a chance to win!
This contest is open to the Cambrian Community! Automatically get entered into the contest when using the hashtag #CambrianGrad2026. Winners will be contacted daily from June 8 to 10 so make sure you’re watching your direct messages!
Guests
You can invite family and friends to attend your ceremony (tickets for your guests are not required). With a high number of graduates per ceremony, we ask that you keep your guest count to two people to allow for all graduates to haves loved ones in attendance.
International family travel
If you are planning on inviting family from outside of Canada, here are some supporting documents that can be used. Please note, Cambrian does not provide invitation letters.
Here are some documents that may be required:
- A copy of applicable documents proving your status in Canada, such as:
- Study Permit with enrolment letter (available in your student portal)
- Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) which must be valid for the length of your family members’ stay in Canada
- If you have applied for a PGWP online but do not have it yet, use a copy of the Letter of Confirmation that IRCC sends when they receive your application
- Passport
- Letter of invitation written by you:
- Use the following template
- Some visa offices may require that your letter be notarized by a Notary Public. Check online for the specific Canadian visa office requirements
- A copy of your marriage certificate, if you are inviting your spouse
- Additional information about your status in Canada, if applicable
- Confirmation of Completion Letter (available in myCambrian) with the convocation invitation email
- A letter from your employer confirming your job (for PGWP holders)
- Proof of available funds if you are paying for their visit
Special accommodations
If you are a graduate with a disability, or have guests with a disability, and require special arrangements such as:
- Sign language interpreting
- Assisted listening devices
- Special seating
- Mobility assistance (e.g., wheelchair)
- Alternate-format materials (Braille or large print)
- An adapted convocation gown or other related assistance

Convocation day
If you have reserved your gown, you are expected to visit the Student Life Centre (Room 2302) at Cambrian College one hour prior to your convocation ceremony time to check-in and receive your gown and stole / hood. You will remain in the Student Life Centre and receive further instructions until the procession departs.
Please leave all your personal belongings with your guests (purses, bags, hats, etc.) as the Student Life Centre will not be secured during the ceremony.
Your guests must proceed to the gymnasium and are not permitted in the Student Life Centre. Gymnasium doors will open 45 minutes before the ceremony is scheduled to begin.
Guests and graduates will be able to purchase flowers, credential frames, graduate bears and other items outside of the gymnasium.
Pre-order these items now to make the graduate’s big day even more special.
Late arrivals
You are expected to be in the Student Life Centre one hour before the ceremony is scheduled to start. The procession will begin on time for all convocation ceremonies. Once the procession has begun, any late arrivals will check-in with staff in the Career Centre Boardroom (Room 2415) and receive further instructions.
