About
Global Skills Opportunity is a new funding grant that provides virtual and travel opportunities to eligible Cambrian College students to study or work internationally as part of their academic program.
As a participant, you will receive funding to complete a short-term outbound mobility experience with one of our academic partners in Peru, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia, or the United Arab Emirates.

Date of Experience: Feb 22 to March 8, 2025
Get ready for an immersive academic and cultural experience in Lima, Peru. This two-week program allows participants to explore Peru’s rich history, engage with local communities, and address critical issues through hands-on projects and academic workshops at TECSUP, one of Peru’s leading institutions for applied technology.
Program Highlights:
- Cultural Exposure: Delve into Peru’s vibrant heritage, visit historical sites, and experience Lima’s renowned culinary scene.
- Academic Focus: Learn about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Peruvian context through courses and workshops on innovation, food security, poverty alleviation, and education.
- Social Engagement: Witness the realities of some of Peru’s most vulnerable communities and work on meaningful projects alongside local students to address environmental and social challenges.
Participants will also benefit from Spanish language lessons, cultural workshops, and a full-day tour of Ica and Paracas, all while gaining unique insights into Peru’s socio-economic landscape.
Who Should Apply?
This program is available to Cambrian College students with priority given to those in the Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child and Youth Care (CYC), and Developmental Services Worker (DSW) programs. We’re also looking for students with a strong interest in sustainability or working in non-governmental organizations. This unique experience is tailored to students who are passionate about making a difference through sustainable development, community service, and cross-cultural understanding.

Eligibility requirements
Participants must meet the following requirements:
- Full-time or part-time domestic student at Cambrian College*
- All domestic students are welcome to apply, however, special consideration and priority will be given first to students who identify as being part of the following three categories below:
- student who requires financial aid
- student with a disability
- student who reports being an Indigenous person
- Must have completed one (1) full semester
- Minimum academic standing of 2.0 GPA
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident with a valid passport at the time of travel**
- Meet the visa-entry requirements of the host country
- At least 18 years old
- Provide a faculty reference letter and a video essay or written essay

*International students are not eligible for this program.
**Permanent residents with a valid passport must ensure they meet the entry requirements for the host country before applying.
