Apply for the Schulich Builders scholarship!

Cambrian College is proud to partner with the Schulich Foundation to award Schulich Builders scholarships to students enrolling in eligible full-time skilled trades certificate and diploma programs.

The scholarships are valued at up to $40,000 ($20,000 per academic year) and support the cost of tuition, living expenses, and tools.

Ten scholarships are available at Cambrian:

  • Five for one-year certificate programs
  • Five for two-year diploma programs

If you’re planning to start a trades program for the 2025-2026 academic year, submit your scholarship application before May 30, 2025!

Timeline

  • May 30, 2025 – Deadline for nominations from high schools/applications close
  • June 2025 – Review and Interviews will be conducted with short-listed candidates

Eligible programs

We rely on skilled trades to build and maintain the infrastructure of our cities and towns. Our challenge is not having enough of these talented people to meet the demands fueled by our growth.

Criteria

Eligibility criteria

You may be awarded the Schulich Builders Scholarship if you are a responsible, hardworking, dedicated individual who:

  • Is a Canadian citizen
  • Meets college admission requirements
  • Are enrolling in a full-time, eligible skilled trades program starting in September 2025

Selection criteria

You must meet the following criteria to be in contention for the Scholarship:

  • Strong work ethic and character, as evidenced by a letter of recommendation by someone directly connected to you, preferably:
    • High school staff member
    • Employer
    • Co-worker
    • Community service organization
  • Financial need, as determined by the college’s Financial Aid office
  • Willingness to act as an ambassador by promoting your career choice in the skilled trades and the Schulich Builders Program in high schools and and in the community

Renewal criteria

In order to keep your scholarship, you must pass your courses each semester (no minimum average is required).

The Schulich Foundation is one of Canada’s largest foundations, having donated in excess of $350 million. Seymour Schulich established and funded The Schulich Foundation. He holds Canada’s highest civilian award, the Order of Canada, and is among Canada’s greatest philanthropists.
