We CARE - Community Advocacy, Resilience and Empowerment

As a way to support our community, Cambrian is now offering FREE, non-credit course modules and resources for your personal enrichment and enjoyment as a way to lend you support and expertise during these unprecedented times.  In these modules you will hear from Cambrian faculty – experienced experts in their field! The modules range from strategies to help you build resilience in times of stress to tips on financial planning. Stress and Resilience

There is no disputing we are living in challenging times. What can you do to help develop strategies to cope with the stressors you may be experiencing?  In this lesson, we will explore the concept of stress, your reactions to stress, and some of the strategies you can use to build resilience.

Living the Good Life (Mino-Bimaadiziwin)

This module will explain how to live the Good Life (Mino-Bimaadiziwin) by using the Medicine Wheel. The Medicine Wheel is an ancient symbol used by some Indigenous Peoples of North and South America. It teaches us that we have four aspects of ourselves that need to be in balance and equally developed to remain healthy. In this module you will be provided an example of how to assess and create some personal goals in relation to your spiritual, emotional, physical and mental health, and your overall well-being.

Fundamentals of Proper Nutrition for Improved Health

Develop a basic understanding of the fundamentals of nutrition and the impact the different essential nutrients have on our bodies. Upon completion of the module, you will be provided a reflection- based profile in order better measure your current nutritional habits.

Financial Planning Basics

These modules are designed to provide you with some financial planning basics that will help you develop a keen insight into your spending, a resiliency to unforeseen circumstances, and ways to maximize your financial future through a better understanding of the Registered Retirement Savings offerings. Topics to be covered include budgeting techniques and financial resiliency, protecting your lifestyle, and income tax and RSP 101 (including first-time home buyers and education options).

Parenting Through COVID-19 (Series)

The video includes items that will support play on a budget with everyday household and/or common items) that are sometimes overlooked as valuable resources for play.
