Virtual OCCE Conference

VIRTUAL OCCE ANNUAL JOINT REGIONAL MEMBERSHIP (JRM) MEETING & PD FULL-DAY CONFERENCE

THEME: NAVIGATING ANEW: CAREER DEVELOPMENT ON A GLOBAL SCALE

Virtual OCCE Conference – Tuesday, December 7, 2021

Please join us for this full-day conference, including our Joint Regional Membership Meeting.

Our theme this year, continues to align with the May 4th Conference idea of us all being on a hero’s journey as we are living Star Wars right now. Much like Luke, Leia, and Han Solo, we are constantly navigating anew!

Navigating Career Development on a Global Scale is a full-day conference that will allow our membership to come together to continue to address challenges, share best practices, build strong relationships and partnerships, learn new tools and strategies, and widen our worldview.

Over the past two years, moments of great upheaval have challenged all of us to take a step back and evaluate our bearings. For career development practitioners and Career Centres, it means identifying if we are steering the vessel in the right direction. Are we sailing smoothly or are we headed off course? Keep in mind, according to NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) principles, there is no failure, only feedback, which is an empowering way to view how we are navigating.

Globalization along with fast-paced developments in science, engineering, information technology, and communication affect the labour market. These trends call us to constantly adapt and reinvent ourselves. As career development practitioners, it is important to be aware of the strengths and limitations of the theories, models, and approaches we use. Our goal is to identify strategies that will optimally support our students, graduates, and employer partners in holistic and meaningful ways.

As career development practitioners, we help our students and graduates see their career as a journey towards higher learning, professional development, and self-discovery rather than a series of mere struggles or positive leaps.

Join us as we continue to “navigate anew.”
