Students

Current Students

If you are a current student of Cambrian College, you may write your test in the Test Centre only if you meet one of the following requirements:

a) You are a student with accommodations registered with the Glenn Crombie Centre
b) You missed a test due to illness, an emergency, or other extenuating circumstances
c) You will not be able to write a test with the rest of the class due to extenuating circumstances

If you meet one of these requirements, you will need to discuss your situation with your professor. If you are an accommodated student, please confirm with your professor that you would like to write your test with us. For all other students, you need to have your professor’s approval to complete a make-up test or write a test on another date or time. If your professor approves, they will send us a referral form, and you will be contacted by email to arrange a date and time to write your test.

Please note, your professor may require that you complete your test in-person in the Test Centre. They may also indicate that your test may be proctored virtually (on Zoom). This information will be outlined on the Test Centre Referral Form and will be confirmed with you at the time of booking your test.

It is your responsibility to inform your professor in advance if you would like to use our services. The form has to be submitted to us a minimum of 5 business days prior to the date you are writing the test. Failure to give advance notice may result in the inability to schedule your test.

Testing Accommodations: What are they?

Testing accommodations are for people with disabilities or accessibility issues. They are obtained by registering with our Glenn Crombie Centre for Accessibility and Wellness. If you believe you may be eligible for testing accommodations, please contact the Glenn Crombie Centre at accessibilityservices@cambriancollege.ca or visit their website for more information.

How to Schedule a Test

Registered Glenn Crombie students can use their accommodations for testing. Let your professor know at least one week before a test that you will be using your accommodations – specify which accommodations you’d like to use. Your instructor will then complete a Test Centre Referral Form to begin making arrangements for you to complete your test. This may mean that a proctor from the Test Centre will join your class Zoom meeting to supervise your remaining accommodated time. It may also mean that you will write separately from the class either in the Test Centre or Glenn Crombie Centre.

Testing accommodations may include:

  • Extended time to complete a test or examination
  • A reduced distraction environment and/or room alone
  • Use of assistive technology such as various hardware or software (Read & Write, Dragon, Kurzweil, etc.)
  • Use of additional resources (calculator, formula sheet)

If you are an accommodated student registered with the Glenn Crombie Centre, please keep in mind that our proctors will only be allowing the accommodations you have been approved for – they do not have the authority to change your accommodations in any way.
