SUDBURY – It’s a sure sign that Cambrian College has turned the corner when it comes to COVID-19: the annual spring convocation will be held in-person again.
After two years of virtual graduation ceremonies, Cambrian is returning to a full-fledged, in-person convocation.
This year’s Convocation Week is June 13-16.
“Without a doubt, convocation is one of the main highlights of a student’s time at college, and it’s milestone you want to celebrate in person with your classmates, teachers and family,” says Bill Best, President of Cambrian College. “I am so happy we can return to that face-to-face ceremony, and I am really looking forward to meeting each graduate personally as they cross the stage.”
It is not just this year’s graduates who are being celebrated during Convocation Week. Cambrian has invited to this year’s ceremonies all the graduates from the previous two years who had their convocations cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“So many of our previous graduates said yes to this invitation that we had to add additional ceremonies to accommodate everyone,” adds Bill Best. “That tells you how much convocation means to our graduates and their families.”
For those graduates who still do not feel comfortable with large, in-person events, Cambrian is providing a live-streaming of all the ceremonies, and graduates and others can post messages in real-time.
