SUDBURY – Cambrian College’s convocation ceremony will be delivered virtually again this year.

Cambrian College wants to celebrate its graduates safely as Ontario and the rest of the world keep battling with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Cambrian’s Virtual Celebration of its Graduates will be carried on the college’s website and Facebook page on June 16th at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be broadcasted live from the main campus.

“We can’t meet in person but we’re going to have a wonderful celebration nonetheless to reward our students for their hard work and endurance,” says Bill Best, Cambrian College President. “Our students were determined to reach their goals, especially with all the challenges that they had to face with the pandemic. Their perseverance and resilience took them to their final destination, graduation. We’re very proud of them and we will give them the best ceremony we can.”

This year’s celebration will be interactive.

Graduating students are being asked to participate by posting photos on social media of how they are celebrating their graduation, using the hashtag #CambrianGrad2021.

This year’s ceremony will include a special opening ceremony featuring Elder Nokomis Martina and the performance of the national anthem by Pamela Teed, a Professor in the Music Performance program. The celebration will also include a message from Cambrian College President Bill Best, Student Council President Lynn Courville, and alumna Gabrielle Roy, an entrepreneur in Greater Sudbury.  Just like in past years, it will also include the announcement of this year’s winner of the President’s Gold and Silver Awards and Governor-General’s Academic Medal.
