SUDBURY – Another new academic year begins next week at Cambrian College in Sudbury.
The fall semester will feature a combination of on-campus labs for hands-on learning, and faculty-led online learning for the theory portion of courses.
Cambrian’s traditional Welcome Week activities are also going virtual this semester as part of the college’s ongoing response to COVID-19.
“Knowing that we were going to be offering a blend of online and on-campus learning, we started our student orientation online weeks ago so that our students would be well-informed and prepared for classes in September,” says Renee Scott, Cambrian’s Director of Recruitment and Student Success. “Close to 2000 students have already done their orientation online, and we’ll have lots of virtual information sessions and activities for the first week of classes to make sure students have what they need to succeed. We will also have people on campus next week to help those students who will be on site for labs and other learning. We are encouraging all students to take part in our virtual Welcome Week and Orientation.”
Cambrian College knows some prospective students may be waiting until the last minute before they decide whether to attend college in September. That’s ok, because it’s not too late to say yes to an offer or apply in the first place.
“Your education is an investment in yourself, so don’t put it on hold longer than you have to,” adds Renee Scott. “Our combination of faculty-led virtual delivery of theory and on-campus, hands-on learning means you will receive a great education. The economy will turn around at some point. You want to be ready when it does by acquiring the skills the workplace will need.”
