SUDBURY – January marks the start of a new semester at Cambrian College and it could be the busiest winter semester on record.
Thirty-six of Cambrian’s programs are accepting new students this January, the most ever. That compares to 26 programs in January of 2019.
For the upcoming winter semester, new students are being welcomed in Trades and Skills Training, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, Business and Information Technology, Community Services, Creative Arts, and General Studies.
Eight of the 36 programs are graduate certificates, which are offered to students who have already graduated from college or university, and can be completed in 2 or 3 semesters.
“This is part of our ongoing evolution as a 12-month college, and the growing size of the winter semester shows how diverse our student population is becoming, and how we want to provide them with more choices,” says Bill Best, President of Cambrian College. “An increasing number of our students are coming to us from the workplace, another institution, overseas, or after being out of school for awhile. They don’t necessarily want to wait until September to begin their studies. January seems to be that ideal time for people who are thinking of their next step in life, changing careers, returning to school, or just simply want to add to their education. We’ve got what they need and we’re ensuring they return to the workplace qualified and ready for that next step in life.”
Cambrian is also using its Fall Open House to showcase its January semester. Students who already been accepted for January are asked to bring the special golden ticket in their admission packages and receive a special gift. Fall Open House will also feature a January Application Station, and Cambrian will pay the $95 fee for students who apply on the spot.
Fall Open House will be held on Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
