NEW! Ontario Learn and Stay Grant

The Ontario Learn and Stay Grant provides financial assistance to students studying in priority programs in priority communities in Ontario and applies to new students who start studying fulltime in September 2023.

Visit the Ministry of Colleges and Universities website for full details and to apply. Applications for the grant are expected to open in the Spring

This program’s focus is to:

  • Encourage learning and working in the same region where you study
  • Meet current labour market needs
  • Ensure communities have the workers they need for in-demand jobs

The Ontario Learn and Stay Grant is designed to assist students by covering the costs associated with:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Books
  • Other direct educational costs (for example, supplies, equipment)

For all other costs associated with student life, such as living costs, students can also apply for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).

Cambrian College offers four programs where you may be eligible for the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant.

Click here to see how these programs are being delivered at Cambrian College.

To be eligible for the grant in 2023-24, you must:

  • Be an Ontario resident who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person; AND
  • Be enrolled full-time in the first year of an eligible program; AND
  • Commit to serve for a specific term in the region where you studied. As a Cambrian College student, you would need to commit to serving in the Greater Sudbury region.

To receive the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant, you are required fulfill a service commitment. For every year of study funded by this grant, you must work for a minimum of six months in the region you studied.

For example, if your program of study is four years long, and you received the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant for each year that you studied, you must work in the region for 24 months (two years) after graduation.

If you fail to fulfill your service commitment, the funding you received will be converted into a loan that must be repaid.

Applications will open in Spring 2023. Further information on how to apply online will be added to this webpage once the program is officially launched by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in Spring 2023.
