Position Summary

Do you want to be one of the leaders of Ontario’s college system? Cambrian College is seeking an outstanding and inspiring leader as its next Vice-President, Academic.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the President, and serving as a member of Cambrian’s Senior Leadership team, the Vice-President, Academic, will play a key role in ensuring Cambrian achieves its strategic goals of enriching the student experience, championing innovation, and expanding the College’s influence globally.

As a visionary academic leader and champion, you will work with your team to foster new and existing program development and support collaborative and innovative learning opportunities for faculty and students across the organization. You will forge strong relationships and partnerships across all levels of the institution, and also be one of Cambrian’s leading ambassadors, developing and strengthening relationships with the College’s various partners in industry, the community, government, and postsecondary education. You will work closely with Ontario’s other public colleges and universities to advance the interests of Ontario’s postsecondary students and institutions. You will also help guide Cambrian’s strategic outreach to new groups of learners and emerging markets for students.

The successful candidate will hold relevant advanced academic credentials at a Masters’ Degree level or higher and have demonstrated superior academic leadership and management experience in postsecondary education. Cambrian’s new Vice-President, Academic, will possess a proven track record of success in academic planning, implementation, collaboration, communication, and relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.

Cambrian College is located in Greater Sudbury, the largest city in Northern Ontario. With more than 75 programs and more than 5,000 full- and part-time students, Cambrian is also the largest college in Northern Ontario. Cambrian has growing cohorts of Indigenous and international students that currently include more than 700 and 1,000 students, respectively, making it a “destinational college” that draws learners from across Canada and around the world. Cambrian offers a comprehensive range of full- and part-time programs and courses, including a number of high-demand programs found at only a few other colleges in Ontario. Cambrian emphasizes collaborative experiential learning, applied research opportunities, and innovative teaching and learning practices in a culturally-aware and increasingly diverse learning community.
