A student is considered full-time if they are registered in at least 70% of the credit hours or 2/3 of the required courses for the semester. Full time students pay fees accordingly. If a student has a course overload, additional fees may incur. The assessed tuition fee cannot be offset by a reduced course load in a previous semester. Tuition costs are determined on a credit basis in accordance with the guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The eligibility and nature of assistance offered through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is determined by the course load, which is 60% (or 40% if you have a permanent disability) each semester.
Part-Time Day Student
A student can be part-time and work towards a credential. This type of student will follow the above registration process and then meet with the program coordinator to complete an add/drop form. Once the form has been completed, fees will be charged according to the credit load. Tuition costs are determined on a credit basis in accordance with the guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Registration for part-time evening study may require admission to a program if you are working towards a credential on a part-time basis. If you are simply taking part-time continuing education interest courses then you can register for those online or in the Enrolment Centre. Students pay fees on a course-by-course basis and full payment of fees is required at the time of registration. Many courses are also offered through distance education and independent learning as well as on the Internet.
Full-time day students may register in evening courses on a tuition fee waiver with the approval of their program Dean/Director if the course they required is not available to them during the day schedule. Any course taken in addition to a regular course load will be assessed an overload fee based on the same rate as part-time fees. Full-time students adding an evening course to their full-time program must notify the Enrolment Centre.
Students are required to pay all costs incurred by taking additional courses in a given semester. The assessed tuition fee cannot be offset by a reduced course load in a previous semester.
It is the student’s responsibility to become acquainted with the policies respecting a refund of fees. These are in keeping with regulations set out by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and are based on the date of official withdrawal from studies. Please refer to the section on fees and academic policies for further information.
Guidelines for tuition fees are set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, who also regulate the policy for refunds and the incidental fees that may be charged by the College. The fees are subject to change. A complete fee schedule is available from the Enrolment Centre and is available to all students in their myCambrian portal.
