More than 80 employers from across Canada will be connecting with hundreds of job seekers at Cambrian College’s annual Career Fair Conference, which takes place on Tuesday, February 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gymnasium.
All Cambrian students are encouraged to attend. The event is also open to graduates and members of the public who are seeking employment or information about career paths.
Employers will be recruiting for current and future full- and part-time positions across a number of industries and sectors including health care, mining, business, financial services, tourism, marketing, applied sciences, engineering, and the skilled trades and technology.
“Finding employment requires preparation, practice, and dedication,” said Renée Scott, Director of Student Success and Recruitment at Cambrian College. “Our Career Centre has planned an outstanding event designed to connect students and graduates with employers who are seeking well-prepared individuals with strong technical abilities, as well as excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills.”
Cambrian’s Career Fair is fertile ground for recruiters seeking new hires that meet these criteria. The College’s Career Centre staff support students who are attending the Fair by offering kits filled with tips and guidelines for job-seekers. “We offer prep kits and one-on-one appointments to help students network and to prepare their résumés so they land the jobs they’re looking for,” Scott continued.
In April, Cambrian College graduates were ranked “best in Ontario” by their employers for a second consecutive year, according to a provincial survey released by Colleges Ontario. One hundred percent of employers surveyed reported that they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with Cambrian grads they hired. The number of employers attending the College’s Fair is also a strong indicator that Cambrian students and graduates are in demand across a variety of sectors.
A list of employers attending the Fair and preparation materials for job seekers are available on online here.
The Career Fair Conference will run in conjunction with a University Fair in the gymnasium foyer. University recruiters will be available to help students find information about adding a degree to their certificate or diploma, and about college-university pathways that can help them enhance their credentials in less time.
As part of their day, employers will enjoy a breakfast with President Bill Best, sponsored by the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association. At the breakfast, Best will reinforce the value of educational partnerships, and how close relationships with employers and organizations helps Cambrian and its graduates to be successful.
