Vice-President, International, Applied Research, and Business Development

Position Summary

Cambrian College is seeking a Vice-President, International, Applied Research, and Business Development.

Duties and Responsibilities

This senior role brings together three dynamic portfolios that support the College’s strategic direction:

International

Cambrian has been experiencing unprecedented growth in its international student enrolment. The incumbent will have oversight of in-house international student recruitment staff and of off-shore third party agents. The incumbent will also champion services and process improvements for international students. He or she will also oversee third-party relations and support delivery and quality assurance.

Applied Research

Cambrian College is a leader in research and innovation and is ranked among the top 50 research colleges in Canada. The incumbent will oversee the implementation of a three-year plan for Cambrian Innovates that includes increasing the profile of research for students and faculty, developing the College’s research activity and reputation, as well as raising the College’s ranking among Canadian colleges that engage in applied research.

Business Development

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing Business Development activities, ranging from corporate training opportunities, to the management of the College’s satellite campuses and Employment Options sites.

 

Qualifications

Required

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in a relevant field of education, along with a deep understanding of international postsecondary education, international recruitment markets, research and research funding, and college-university collaboration and business. He or she will hold a significant leadership role both within the College and the broader community of the City of Greater Sudbury. As such, demonstrated successful progressive experience in a leadership role and the ability to enhance strong professional relationships both within the College community and with those the College serves is required. The Vice-President International, Applied Research, and Business Development reports to the President, and will be required to provide support to the President, including the President’s responsibilities as they relate to the College’s Board of Governors. Experience in introducing and leading change in a positive, sustained way will be an important attribute as the College moves forward with the goals and objectives of its Strategic Plan.
