Mature Student Assessment
Cambrian College offers a series of standardized tests. The results will help determine each student's academic ability to pursue career-oriented college studies. This assessment is called the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT). These assessment tests are standardized paper-and-pencil, multiple-choice tests; each topic has from 22 to 70 questions. Test results are valid for one year. These assessments cover English and math only; students requiring sciences or other subjects as part of the program requirements are encouraged to contact Upgrading.
Each student must pay a test fee prior to testing. Payment is made in person at the Registrar's Office using cash, cheque, money order, Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Interac. Payment may also be made by phone (705-566-8101, extension 3003) using Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Once payment is received, each student must book an appointment to write the CAAT. For test scheduling information and booking of appointments, please call (705)-566-8101, extension 7560, or visit the Test Centre in Room 3522A (Barrydowne Campus).

Mature student assessments will be evaluated as soon as possible by Admission staff, and candidates will be contacted by the Admissions Office with their assessment results. Students who demonstrate readiness will be advised on the next steps in the admissions process. If the assessment indicates there are any gaps or deficiencies in math or English, they will be provided with further options from our Upgrading/Intake Officer at that time.
